The Next Prabhu Deva- Sherif

‘Who is the Next Prabhu Deva' is the first of its kind show in Tamil TV where the participants have a chance to perform all kinds of dancing forms like salsa, jazz, broadway musical, ballet and many more international dancing themes.

Master Prabhu Deva attended the last show of the long running 'Ungalil Yaar Adutha Prabhu Deva contest' and was also the judge. Many finalists sizzled on the stage in front of their idol. Some of the participants were even dressed as Michael Jackson and paid tribute to the pop icon. There was also a special performance by classical dancer Shobana. Actress Rukmani and Ragasiya were also part of this mega LIVE show.

The show so far has been graced by many popular artists like Anand Babu, Simbu, Shyam, Santhanu, Jeeva, Arya, Vishnu Vardhan, Jeyam Ravi, Bharath, Sneha, Gayatri Raghuram, Lakshmi Rai, Sada, Shobhana, Gouthami, Pooja, Aachi Manorama and many other popular faces from the film fraternity have judged the contestants’ performance. Apart from them, dance masters including Sundaram, Saroj Khan, Puliyur Saroja, Raguram Master, Master Johny, Ashok Raja, Cool Jeyanth have appreciated the dancing skills of these contestants.

The finals which were held on June 26th at the YMCA grounds were telecast live, and Prabhu Deva finally crowned young dancer Sherif as the winner! The runners-up Premgopal, Manijkumar and Nanda were awarded Rs. 1 lakh each as the prize amount.

Sherif also got a cash prize of Rs. 10 lakhs apart from being given the prestigious title of “Next Prabhu Deva”.

Sania mirza Get engaged to Mohammed Sohrab Mirza. The 23-year-old sania mirza was formally engaged to Hyderabadi businessman Mohammed Sohrab Mirza on Friday.

In an exclusive, by-invitation only function at a Hyderabad luxury hotel, the evening’s celebrations were kicked off with a ceremonial exchange of rings. Sania hadn’t seen her ring, until the moment Mohammed placed it on her ring finger.

Sania was dressed in a dazzling Shantanu & Nikhil, Swarovski-studded ghagra, snugly fit at the hips and gaining in flare around the ankles. Sania had picked the colours for the occasion – emerald green and gold – much in advance.

Sania said We’ve had this choker in our family for 75 years, emerald set in dull gold. It is my mother’s. Before her, it was my dadi’s and I wanted to wear it. The assignment went to Delhi-based Shantanu, who had on a previous occasion attired Sania for an award ceremony, and he responded with an intricately embroidered three-piece ensemble.

Deep earth pumps contributes to Earth Quakes

The Scientists have discovered natural deep earth pumps and that contributes to earth quakes. The discovery was made by examining one millimeter sized cubes of exposed rock in Alice Springs, which was deformed around 320 million years ago during a period of natural mountain formation. The evidence is described in a paper published in the latest edition of Nature entitled Creep cavitation can establish a dynamic granular fluid pump in ductile shear zones.

Research leader Dr Florian Fusseis, from the University of Western Australia, said that the discovery could provide valuable information in understanding how earthquakes are formed. Dr Fusseis said, While we understand reasonably well why earthquakes happen in general, due to stress build-up caused by motions of tectonic plates, the triggering of earthquakes is much more complex.

The process, called creep cavitation, involves fluid being pumped through pores in deformed rock in mid-crustal sheer zones, which are approximately 15 km below the Earth’s surface. The fluid transfer through the middle crust also plays a key role in tectonic plate movement and mantle degassing.

The discovery was made possible through the use of high-resolution Synchrotron X-ray tomographic, scanning electron microscope observations at the nanoscale and advanced visualisation using iVEC in Western Australia.

To understand the ‘where’ and ‘when’ of earthquakes, the ‘how’ needs to be understood first. We know that earthquakes nucleate by failure on a small part of a shear zone. Dr Fusseis said that while their sample did not record an earthquake it gave them an insight into the structures that could be very small and localized precursors of seismic failure planes.

Total solar eclipse of this century on Wednesday 22 July 2009

The total solar eclipse of this century is going to occur On Wednesday 22 July 2009. This could be a longest duration solar eclipse of this century. Consequently, it provides a rare opportunity to view and study this grand spectacle of nature. The partial phase of the eclipse will be visible throughout the country. In general, the partial phase can be seen in the regions of eastern Asia and Pacific Ocean. Considering the Earth as a whole, the eclipse begins at 5:28 a.m. when the shadow of the Moon touches the Earth at local sunrise at a point in the Arabian Sea close to the western coast of India.

The shadow crosses over central India, passes through south-east of Nepal, crosses North Bengal, southern part of Sikkim, most of Bhutan and north-western tip of Bangladesh. Then the shadow enters Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, touches Myanmar and enters China.

The eclipse ends at 10:42 a.m. when Moon's shadow finally leaves the Earth at local sunset at a point in the South Pacific Ocean. At approximately 6:23 a.m., the central path of the eclipse will touch the Earth at sunrise at a point in the Gulf of Khmbhat in the Arabian Sea near the southern coast of Gujarat. At this time, the path of totality will be about 200 km wide and the duration of totality at the central line will be about three minute 30 seconds.

This eclipse is of special interest for the scientists and general public as its path of totality passes through thickly populated regions of west, central, east and north-east India. The maximum duration of totality of 6 minutes 44 seconds occurs at 8:05 a.m. in the North Pacific Ocean where the width of the path is about 258 km. The rest of the path does not pass through major land areas.
